"We did this by decorating together and sharing little moments throughout the day, including walking in to our ceremony together, smiling and holding hands. This wedding was all about celebrating teamwork! "We are a team and wanted our wedding to feel that way, too," Sara says. We spent four days together at a rented house, enjoying beautiful wine country and the gorgeous springtime weather." " Our priorities from the beginning were making sure that the entire event felt like 'us.' We wanted a week where our immediate family could enjoy being together, with the wedding ceremony as a focal point. Sara and Chris kick-started the wedding-planning process by nailing down their hopes and dreams for the big day. "My answer when he asked was, 'Shut Up!' After clarifying with, 'of course,' we enjoyed celebrating our engagement with champagne and glasses Chris had snuck into the picnic." ![]() Though the summer was over, our romance was just beginning. In spite of the distance (Chris still lived in the UK and I in California), we continued to speak for hours each day, travelled to see each other often and built an incredible relationship."Ĭhris planned an elaborate ruse for his proposal to Sara - what was billed as a picnic with friends turned out to be an intimate engagement! "I didn’t see the proposal coming," Sara says. "It was at this moment we realised our relationship had grown deeper than friendship. "In t he summer of 2016, once the buses full of campers and staff rolled away, we were left standing side by side in the newly-quiet forest," Sara says. Sara and Chris met in 2013, when they were both working at a summer camp in Northern California.
